New House Update: Foundation

Well--the ground work is finished and the foundation is up! Now we just have to backfill and wait for our contractor to return from his honeymoon and we'll be framing! Checkout the progress below.

Here is Brandon doing some late night rolling on all of the fill we brought it. We dug out a big hole and filled it back in with extra-compacting fill to ensure we won't have any more foundation problems like we did with the old house.

Here are some of the footings just after being poured--it was quite a maze of forms and rebar.

Here is a pile of stuff in the middle of the kitchen. Hopefully that is the last time the room is so messy!
Here is an overview--the walls of the foundation are poured but the forms are still on at this point to make sure the concrete was nice and hard. In this picture you can see our awesome covered back patio (the rectangle with the columns in it). I'm very excited for this feature of the house!

Everyday we go check out the progress--Brandon, me, Diesel and Daisy.

A pile of string they were using to make sure things were square and level--which I greatly appreciate after trying to remodel the old house!

It's been a little muddy!

An overhead shot--I'm standing on a flat bed truck stacked with forms. Here is the garage!

And here is most of the house.

Some details...

Check out our covered front porch...this is where the front door will be.

And here is the foundation all naked--no more forms!

More updates to come as the house grows!

The Great Demolition

We once had a house...

Three weeks ago--we demolished it! Check the progress throughout the day!
Upstairs--that is (err..was!) our bedroom!

Teamwork = big escavator and mini escavator operated by great friends! Thanks for all your help guys! Extra special thanks to Dan to who taught me how to operate the mini escavator the night before...I now have a skill I can fall back on if all else fails.

It was pouring down rain all day--I heard from someone we got about 2 inches of rain that day and I believe it! Check out the muddy escavator tracks...that is what our driveway, yard as well as everyone's feet and legs looked like by the end of the day!

Thank goodness for rain gear and great friends!

Poof! Gone!

See that escavator? That is where our house once stood! I couldn't resist including our last few fall leaves in a shot.

Many more updates to come--we're pouring the foundation Monday!

Baby Colby

This Monday I had the joy of photography little, tiny, perfect Colby! Born three weeks early, even though we took the pictures at almost four weeks, he was still quite little. He was absolutely perfect during his session and I can't wait to photograph him again as he continues to grow! Mom (Jessica) looks fantastic and Dad (Lance) was positively beaming around his son. May your new little bundle of joy continue to bless you both and thank you so much for the opportunity to photograph your new addition! Check back by the end of the weekend for all of the session pictures on the proofing and ordering site.
I loved his little lower lip when he slept--Colby is adorable no matter what he's up to!

Oh How I Miss Thee

Dear ugly, old, ripped up linoleum flooring,

Oh how I miss thee expansive mass of flooring you once covered. I miss the warm bathroom you adorned and vast amount of counter space you laid beneath. I promise to never speak ill of you again!

Love,

Your previous owner

We'll it's been a super busy time for us lately! We've officially demolished our house (including the lovely flooring pictured above!)--pictures to come soon! We've been to snowy Minnesota for a week and back. We've settled in to travel trailer life and are thoroughly enjoying the extreme water conservation, little blue outhouse and too short bed. I have to say I never thought I'd see the day when my toes hung over the edge of a bed--now I wake up to it every morning. It makes me start every day with a giggle! I do feel bad for Brandon who's entire feet stick over the edge! Now that we're TVless, have a much smaller house to clean and are slowing down a bit for the winter I promise much more frequent postings than as of late.

I've got several sessions I'm super excited for coming up--a couple newborn sessions, a maternity session and several family sessions. I can't wait to share them with you!

Secret Session!

Last weekend I watched my adorable niece for my sister and brother-in-law. We snuck out of the house to have a little photoshoot in the fall colors. I'm a little biased, but seriously, T is the cutest little girl I know! I can't believe she's already over a year and half old! I had to wait to show you until I gave her mom and dad some early Christmas present prints! Enjoy!

T does this all the time and it is usually accompanied by the sweetest little "ut oh!"
