Please Welcome Baby Coop!

AKA Colby! Six pounds, seven ounces. 20 inches long. 100% perfect and adorable!

Congrats to Lance and Jessica on the birth of their precious little boy!!! Three weeks early, four hours of labor = one happy and proud set of parents.

I can't wait to take Colby's official newborn pictures next week, but in the meantime--take a look at his first day pictures with his mom.

Almost Empty

Another slow week on the blog--another super busy week at home and with the business! My house is almost empty! Soon I'll be writing from the comforts of our travel trailer. I had an AMAZING secret photoshoot this past weekend, I can't show you the images until the secret is out, but I'll give you a hint--the pictures are adorable and contain lots of pink! In the meantime, here is a little something to keep you entertained.

Coffee Table Books

One of the products that can be purchased for wedding albums, guest books and portrait session albums are coffee table books. I recently ordered Michelle and Shane's wedding coffee table book and I thought I would share it with all of you as it really showcases their wedding so beautifully.

Coffee table book covers come in black, brown or dark red leather. Black, chocolate and tan fabric covers are also available. I love these books as they have a special binding that allows the open book to lay flat. The paper is specially coated to keep the images protected for many years to come ensuring the book will be a family heirloom for many generations.

Guest Photographer

Sorry things have been a little slow on here lately--we've been super busy getting ready for the great house demo, designing new sample albums, meeting with brides for 2009, family pictures for the holidays etc. An HUGE thank you goes out to all my clients who have been so wonderful--I couldn't ask for kinder, warmer, more fantastic people to share my passion with.

While I've taken plenty of pictures myself lately, I wanted to show you some of Brandon's amazing work!!! Recently he went on a trip to Wyoming. Since I've never been, I made sure he had our handy point and shoot camera fully charged and stocked with an empty card packed carefully away in his bag. He was under very direct instructions to take as many photos as he could--with enough card room to take nearly 1,000 pictures. Well he came back with only 48, but clearly he has demonstrated that quality over quantity is the most important factor! I was truly blown away by the shots he captured.

Brandon is my biggest cheerleader in my photography business, my best critical evaluator of photographs (he has the best eye for composition and details!), my best friend and an amazing husband. So I just had to share these with you all! Enjoy his amazing work!! I think I might have hire him to second shoot with me.
I LOVE this picture! It makes me want to hook up the horse trailer, load up Rascal and drive straight there. How beautiful is this state? Amazing!
When I was first going through the pictures Brandon took I could not figure out what was going on here but I loved the photojournalistic feel and the composition of the picture. Brandon explained to me that on this ranch the owners usually halter break the calves by teaching them to lead behind the fourwheeler but their fourwheeler was broken. So they tied the calf to their dog and he was doing a great job leading the little fellow all over the property! I'm going to have to try that with Diesel someday!
Brandon loved this bluff and I am smitten too--Mt. Baker is pretty and all but for some reason the grass is always greener on the other side (but not too literally in this case!). It is incredible to me the variety of landscapes just around our 50 states.
My favorite--I think I'm going to blow this up as big as it can go for our new house. An amazing Wyoming sunrise we can enjoy everyday!

Personal Note

Just a quick word to keep you posted on our new house project...

I've been spending a lot of time with these getting our new (used, but new to us) travel trailer all cleaned up and ready to be our home for 6-9 months, starting in two weeks. I'll post pictures of it in the weeks to come--I love it!

I've also been spending a lot of time packing boxes and plastic containers full of our stuff. I've decided I'm throwing away (ok, probably donating and selling) 1/2 of our stuff before we move into the new house. I've got a new motto to only own what I love or absolutely need. Seriously--having all this stuff makes me too stressed when I have to clean it, organize it and store it. Time for a new approach to life!

My grandma's china--if this breaks I might have a heart attack! This is definitely coming to the new house with us--I love it!

See that white blob at the top--that is a plastic pie carrier. The best invention in the world. Unfortunately I can only find cake carriers in the stores these days. This carrier--definitely staying!

Here's the plan:

The next two weeks--continue to get our belongings out of the house and move into travel trailer

Then--remove all windows (windows we just replaced as part of the remodel :(), light fixtures and new door that we are keeping for the new house

Sept. 7--demolition! I've lined up a videographer (ok, its my sister who happens to own a video camera which makes her much more of a videographer than me...plus I've seen her vacation footage and it is quite good!). I'm also prepared to document the events with my camera (which I will share with ya'll). I'm also getting ready to prove both my sister and husband wrong who think I'm going to loose it and have a mental breakdown when the house comes down. I've been watching lots of Extreme Makeover Home Editions and pretending it is my house they are knocking down to prepare--so far I've held it together. Now if I could only convince our fabulous contractor that he really can build our new house in one week! What, they do it on TV every week!

Baby Ferrah and Family

This Saturday I had a great time wondering around Hovander Park capturing some great pictures of baby Ferrah and her parents. Little Ferrah was a perfect angel the whole session--I couldn't have asked for a better behaved baby! Below are some of my favorites--the rest of the pictures should be up within a week--I'll keep you posted! Thanks again to Ferrah and her family for being so welcoming and fun to work with! I hope to see Ferrah again soon--she can be my baby model anytime!

Ferrah caught a lot of air during her session--here she is taking a closer look at the apples on the tree.

Daddy's little girl...

This is my favorite family picture from the session--don't they all look so happy! Mom and dad are so proud of their little girl and she is happy as can be!

When I Have a Baby...

MAY I PLEASE look as amazing six weeks out from my due date as my friend Jessica! Seriously--she looks fantastic and was up for anything during our photoshoot last night. Here is a quick sneak peak Jess--its almost midnight and I should probably get to bed sometime tonight! More to come in the next few days!

Jennifer - Post 2

Here are a few more of my favorites from Jennifer's session. All of her session images will be up for viewing by Saturday afternoon. Thanks again for a great photo shoot Jennifer!!! I wish you the best as you complete your AA degree--what an awesome opportunity to have that under your belt as you graduate from high school! You are ready to face the world and I can't wait to hear of the great things in store for you in the coming years!

FYI--Phone Number

I don't use my home phone number for business but sometimes people look me up in the phone book and call me at home. I just wanted to let you know that I just canceled that phone number for the following reasons:
1. We're going to be living in a travel trailer shortly with no access to a land line phone.
2. The phone number has been misprinted in the phone book ever since we received it and has been listed under our name and also a large church in Lynden...we get several calls a day for the church/pastor. And while sometimes the phone messages are amusing...I prefer not receive all of those extra phone calls.
3. We receive tons of phone calls for the people who had our number before from companies and such. It is hard to convince those people that you are not the people they are looking for, you do not know them and please do not call again.
4. Our house phone lines are all messed up. We've already thrown away and purchased one new phone thinking it was the phone that was making the scratching/cutting out/I can't hear you annoyances. $80 on a new phone later, we find out it is indeed our phone line...not the phone. For the last week when people try to call us they get a busy signal--even though no one is on the phone. Two days ago the phone line went totally dead. The phone line obviously has significant issues...

So--I've had enough! It is canceled. We'll get a new phone line when the new house is built but you can throw away our home number--I did not request to reserve the phone number until then!

In the meantime and as always please call me via cell phone at (360)410-7393.

Have a great Thursday--it's almost the weekend! Keep your eye out tonight/tomorrow for more of Jennifer's senior pics and a sneak peak of an awesome maternity session I did last night.
